Errors in Production

  1. v/b — example error: very vs berry
  2. sh/ch – example error: wash vs watch, shirt vs church
  3. s/z – example error: not a clear example but it leads to many dropped final ‘s’ sounds such as when Spanish speakers say “he wash the dishes.”
  4. ed –example error: walked pronounced as two syllables. This often occurs when the final ed should be pronounced as /t/
  5. consonant clusters: (sc) school vs eschool, (th) birthday vs birdday, April Thirtieth,
  6. Contractions: Spanish speakers have troubles with the pronunciation of past tense modals when contracted such as “I wouldn’t have gone” (often pronounced as “I wouldn’t’ve gone.”)
